Red Robin has always held a special place in my heart. As a kid, I remember the excitement of walking in, the smell of fries in the air, and the joy of biting into one of their juicy burgers or sipping on a towering milkshake. It was my go-to place for birthdays, and it never disappointed. The fun atmosphere made it feel like more than just a meal; it was an experience.
That’s why this recent visit stung a little. I came in with high hopes and nostalgia, ready to relive those childhood memories. But this time, something was off. I ordered a corn dog, per usual, and as I took my bite, my teeth shot with the cold feeling of the frozen corn dog. Not lukewarm, not slightly off, cold. It was a surprising letdown, especially from a place that’s usually so consistent with its comfort food staples.
The staff was friendly and quick to fix the issue once I brought it up. I get that every restaurant has off days, but when you're serving something as simple as a corn dog, especially to a family excited to be there, it shouldn't come out straight from the fridge.
I still have a soft spot for Red Robin, and I’m not writing them off. Maybe it was just a fluke. But I’d be lying if I said it didn’t take a little shine off the nostalgia.
