Alice in Borderland

Alice in Borderland is a Japanese Drama show that you can watch on Netflix. This show follows the main character Arisu. Arisu is a video game obsessed teenager who is looked down upon by his family and peers. One day when out with his two best friends, they suddenly find themselves in a weird, emptied out parallel universe version of Tokyo. He and his friends must play dangerous and deadly physical and mental games in order to survive. While trying to figure out a way out of this place, Arisu meets a lot of different people from different paths of life. None of them know how they got there, and none of them know how to get out. 

Overall, Alice in Borderland is the perfect show. From the first episode, you will be hooked. It is the perfect mixture of action, drama, romance, and friendship. My favorite part of the show is the relationship developed between Arisu, and fellow player Usagi. The two are nothing alike, Arisu sits in his room all day and plays video games alone. Whereas Usagi is adventurous, always outside and super fit. Although different, they balance each other out perfectly. My favorite part about the relationship is that it doesn’t feel forced. The two form a genuine friendship, and care for each other which slowly and beautifully turns into a romantic relationship. Another part of the show I love is the friendships that are made between people who would, in the normal world,  never even cross paths. The characters, facing such hard situations, have a special connection with one another and care for each other so deeply as they are at risk of losing each other all the time. Although the connection between players is arguably my favorite part of the show. It is also so mind twisting and addicting to follow. As a watcher, you as well as the characters are trying to solve the mystery of how they got there, and how they can make it out alive. The games and the danger they face will keep you on your toes throughout every episode. You will find yourself looking for clues, watching side characters, and trying to solve the mystery of this crazy and deadly world. 

Throughout the show you will laugh, you will cry, and you will definitely scream at your tv on multiple occasions. There is not a single boring part of the show and it will make you want to finish in one sitting. Don’t watch this show if you don’t want to get invested, because you will be. It will fill your brain for weeks even after you finish. Alice in Borderland is definitely one of the best shows I have ever watched and I will recommend it to anyone. So next time you are sitting down looking for a tv show to watch, please choose Alice in Borderland. It may just be your new favorite show.
