With the beginning of the new year, comes the end of many beloved trends. So, if you want to be ahead of the curve, listen here for the official Southern Regional fashion forecast.
Though the ’90s and early 2000s have been hanging in prevalence for a long time, I don't think their reign of power is quite over yet, but rather the perspective is changing. Think less baggy street style, and more the sleek, light silhouette of the runways. And finally, there is no more hiding from the fact that low rise is once again the top choice for jeans.
Whether that be in the form of loose fitting flairs or even straight cut baggy, I am afraid it is officially the end of the mom jean era. It appears that right under all of our noses, the crop top has gone out of style.
Coupling with the new low rise trend, full length shirts seem to be the practical choice. Tailored and timeless silhouettes are back in, and nothing says timeless like a top that is perfectly hemmed. Despite this appealingly modest move, off the shoulders and mesh back tops are on the rise. This mesh trend goes beyond tops too, however, and full lace and mesh maxi dresses are seen all over runways.
The ’90s aren't the only decade having a moment, however, as some early 70’s trends can be seen making a comeback. Whether that be through bell sleeves or penny lane coats, you can find assets of many decades in fashion today. Pieces of the 60s, such as mod mini dresses are also on the rise. No matter what the trends may be, wearing what you want will never go out of style.
