Southern Regional has been a lacrosse powerhouse for the last couple of years winning back to back South Jersey Group 4 finals in 2021 and 2022. Since then the Rams have fallen short of their goals by just a game. In the last two seasons making it to the state semifinals and falling to defeat. However could this be a turning point for the Rams this year as they look to get back to the finals?
I got the chance to speak with some of the team's players and find out how they feel about the upcoming season and what their expectations are. Shea O’Donnell sophomore attackman says, “ We expect big things this year. We only lost two seniors last year so we are coming back very experienced and ready to get after it on March 10th.” Other players agreed with Shea. Those players being Evan Wyrsch, Lukas Iliescu, Liam Griffin. Those guys will be some players to watch this upcoming year under the coaching of John Pampalone as the Rams try to continue their history and solidify themselves as one of the best teams in South Jersey.
With the season being right around the corner it is crunch time for these boys as they continue to build bonds with each other off the field that will translate well on the field in the 2025 season. Coach Nick Jinks says, “you’re only as good as your seniors want to be.” Meaning the senior captains are going to have to show up and play their best this year if they want to achieve greatness. With a loaded schedule this year the Rams will be facing off against three teams out of the states top ten. Those teams being Rumson, CBA, and Manasquan. Can the Rams continue their history of running South Jersey or will they crumble under the presser? Stay up to date with the team on the Rampage and don’t forget to come out and support the Rams this season.
