“529 Creekford Ave, this is the place!” I said, putting the car in park.
My friends and I pull into the driveway of the Airbnb we are renting for the week. The five of us got out of the car, gathered our bags, and brought them inside the house.
“This place is huge!” Andrew exclaimed.
“Look at the kitchen, it's gorgeous!” Said Katherine.
We continued to explore the giant house we had rented out. There were only three bedrooms which meant that we would have to split up into two pairs of two and one person would get their own room. The house was stunning, it even had a hot tub! As we walked around we discovered that at the end of the hallway there was a door. Garren approached it.
“Oooo is this the gameroom!” He shouted.
He tugged on the door knob and realized it was locked.
“That must be the storage closet, most airbnbs have them to store cleaning supplies” I explained.
We left the door alone and continued on with our tour. We got to the bedrooms and split up, Garren and Andrew would share, Katherine and Molly would share, and I would get my own room.
“Look at the pretty yellow blanket on my bed!” Molly said excitedly.
We settled into our rooms and eventually got hungry. Garren made us all dinner and we all sat at the table and ate. Right across from the table was the hallway with the locked door. The door handle began shaking. Andrew realized first.
“Does anyone hear that?”
“It sounds like someone is messing with the locked door.” I said, smiling.
We all got up to see what was going on. As we approached the door we could see a light come on through the crack at the bottom. Molly crouched down, trying to see something on the other side through the small crack in the door. Nothing.
“Should I try to open it?” Garren whispered, in case something was listening from the other side. Katherine replied.
“Yeah, wiggle the handle.”
Garren wiggled the handle and he could see the light shut off. Molly stood up quickly in shock from the light flicking off and Garren continued to wiggle the handle.
“Hello, is anyone there?” Garren yelled.
“Hush! Why are you yelling? What if there is someone actually there!” Katherine said, pushing Garren away from the door to stop him from saying anything else.
The handle wiggled again from the other side, indicating that there really was someone there, and they could hear us.
“Why don’t you wiggle the handle again Garren, see if they will turn the light back on.” I recommend.
Garren wiggled the handle again and now the lights started flickering. All of a sudden the lights throughout the whole house shut off and the only light you could see was under one the door that was flickering on and off. Then, the door flung open and I pushed them all into the basement. As I watched them all topple down the stairs, screaming in fear, I realized that my plan had worked. Not only had I faked being these people's friends but I managed to lock them away like the rest that stay at my Airbnb.
