With the 2022-2023 football season soon coming to an end and the next season on the horizon, seniors will be graduating, leaving the underclassmen to know the rules and etiquette when going to a game. Too many times students just show up to the football games, without knowing that there are rules that go along with the student section of each game.
Rule #1 : SENIORITY!! Seniority is real and holds true for every game. Freshman go to the back, sophomores and juniors in the middle, and the seniors stand in the front. Everyone will get their turn soon enough, so stay back and respect the seniors till you are one.
Rule #2 : Dress for the theme. Each week The Herd will post what the theme of each game is, make sure to go all out, too much is not enough. Be sure to follow The Herd Official on Ttwitter, where you can see what each theme is, @SRHSRamsFans.
Rule #3 : Be loud! The best way to spend the game is being involved in the cheers and yelling them as loudly as possible. Each chant will start from the seniors in the front and will be chanted 3 times, don’t go over!
Rule #4 : Don’t throw trash. As much as it might be tempting to throw a water bottle down at the seniors or throw trash away on the ground, it could seriously injure someone, and will make the custodian's job easier after the game if you just hold onto what you brought.
Rule #5 : During halftime respect the band and colorguard. They worked hard and should have a chance to be recognized, so cheer for them when appropriate and show respect.
Rule #6 : Keep the aisles clear! Players' families and people from the town come to the games, keep the aisle clear and safe for them to pass through.
Rule #7 : Get HYPED! Never sit, always cheer, and be involved with what is going on. Nobody is “too cool” at a game, so be loud and hyped for the players on the field!
The football season will be here sooner than you realize and it’s up to you to show your support and school pride by being there and getting excited. Don’t forget these student section etiquette rules to ensure the best time at the games.
