Some state agencies require that people within our industry are required to hold certain permits or registrations, to engage in our type of work, within the state.
A NON-REGULATED state means the state DOES NOT require any permit, registration or license required by the state level to work within their state borders.
A REGULATED state means the state DOES require some form of permit, registration or license to be in place in order to work within their state borders.
Each state has different requirements, some even different between sales or techs. The list below is a quick glance at what category each state falls under.
Individual cities within each state may have their own requirements for door to door sales or installation.
This is referred to as municipal licensing. Municipal licensing can include licensing for door to door or installation and sometimes both.
It is the responsibility of the salesperson or technician to obtain any required municipal license and to carry it on them while working in the city.
Any cities that have already had information verified will be added to the state it is in, so be sure to check each state page for municipal information.
Municipal license information can be requested via the work request form or by emailing Compliance.
The interactive Licensing Map is currently down for maintenance.
*Regulated states require some form of state level licensing or registration. A permit is also required to be entered into Orion to be able to run a credit in the state. You must contact compliance@skylinesecurity.com before attempting to work in one of these states.
