Step 1 – Application
You can begin the application process online at the MN DOLI portal. Follow the steps below to submit the application.
1. Select New License, Exam, Reciprocity, or Registration Application
2. On the next page, select Electrical
3. Then choose Registered Unlicensed Power Limited Technician
4. Review requirements, check the box and click next.
5. Complete application to the best of your knowledge.

Step 2 – Fee and Submission
The fee for this application is $40 and is paid when you complete and submit the application online.
Once paid for, save the payment confirmation, and send a copy to Compliance.
When you receive your registration in the mail, be sure to forward a copy to Compliance.

Step 1 – Training
To renew your Unlicensed Power Limited Technician Registration, you must first complete at least 2 hours of continuing education on the National Electrical Code. You can complete that online Tradesmance.com. Be sure to inform us of what course you have signed up for and also send us the course completion certificate once done.
Step 2 - Application
You can begin your renewal by going to the MN DOLI renewal portal. You will need to enter your registration number to initiate your renewal application.
Be sure to complete the application completely and be sure to upload a copy of your continuing education certificate during the process.
Step 3 – Fee and Submission
The fee for the renewal is $19 (if your registration is already expired, you will be required to pay a renewal fee of $24 which includes a late payment fee).
Once paid for, save the payment confirmation, and send it to Compliance.
When you receive your renewed registration, be sure to submit a copy to Compliance.
