Step by Step Process:
*There are two parts to this registration process.
Part 1 - Criminal History Record
1. You need to go in person to the Bureau of Criminal Identification located at 4 Howard Ave. located in Cranston, RI. Hours of operation are from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
2. You will need to show your photo ID and be sure to let them know you need a national background check required by the Department of Labor and Training (DLT) for your Alarm License.
3. The $45 fee can be paid via check or money order payable to BCI. You will be notified by mail if your report has any positive criminal record charges listed.
Part 2 - Application
1. The application can be completed once you have been printed for the Criminal History Record. You will need to include the date you were printed on the application.
2. When completing the application, be sure to pay attention to the following:

3. You will also need to submit two personal references on the two reference pages included in the packet. Each person completing a form, must have it notarized.
4. The last form of the packet is the Authorization for Background Check and Release and will need to be completed and notarized as well.
5. Along with the application, you will need to submit the following:
2 - Color photos 1" x 1" - full face for ID card
$30 fee payable via check or money order to State of Rhode Island General Treasurer
Once everything is submitted, the state will process the application and either issue or deny a permanent ID card within 90 days of receiving the application packet. Once issued, the ID card is valid for a period of two years.
New Alarm Agent Registration:

Valid for: 2 years
Criminal Record Check (CRC) - must be done in person
App Packet - Requires Notary - CRC must be done first

*You will need to submit this renewal application at least 30 day prior to your expiration date.
1. Go to https://www.ri.gov/Licensing/renewal/license.php?lic_id=127 or click the button below to begin your renewal process. You will need to enter the last 4 digits of your social security number and your date of birth to proceed.
2. Answer all questions and prompts, to complete the application process.
3. Required fee is $15 and will be paid online.
Once your renewal application has been submitted, be sure to send a copy of the receipt to compliance@skylinesecurity.com as confirmation.
BY MAIL
*You will need to submit this renewal application at least 30 day prior to your expiration date.

2. Complete application entirely, do not leave anything blank and get the bottom notarized.
