Once registered any course materials, if required, will be mailed to you. Be sure to pay close attention through the course as you will be required to pass a proctored exam at the end of the course.
When you received your certification, be sure to email a copy to Compliance. A copy will also need to be included with your application when sent to the state.
Step 2 – Application Process
*Please note that both registration types require different certification courses to be completed before the application can be submitted.
Employees need to complete the following forms:
*Pay attention to each page as some require a notary or two witnesses.
The application must be signed by the state Qualified Agent – you can reach out to our QA Patrick Moore to obtain that signature via email.
Step 3 – Additional Requirements

2 fingerprint cards
Step 4 – Fee & Submit
Application fee is $50 per person. This can be paid for with a company check, cashier’s check or money order made payable to AESBL. You can also complete payment via credit or debit card, if so, you will need to fill out the Credit/Debit Card Payment Form and include it with your application.
Background fee is $38.25. This can be made paid for with a money order or cashier’s check payable to ALEA, Criminal Records and Identification Unit.

Once all forms have been completed and all additional requirements are included, everything will need to be sent out to:

*We need copies of all documents being sent to the state – be sure to send them to us if you mail anything directly to the state. You can send copies to Compliance.
This state does not allow anyone to work on a temporary license. Process time for these registration types is 90 days once everything has been accepted by the state. For an update on your application process, you can call AESBL at (334)264-9388 or you can email them.
Once issued, the license will be valid for two years, expiring on December 31. You will be notified by the state and Skyline once it is time to renew.

Alabama renewal applications are done online through the AESBL Interactive Renewal Portal. When you first begin, be sure to choose individual application.
To pull up your license info, you will need the following information.

During the renewal process, you will be required to upload the following:
Current color photo
Continuing education certificate
ALEA Forms 18 & 18-1 (Pages 8&9 of packet)
2 x physical fingeprint cards
Step 4 – Fee & Submit
The renewal fee is $65 and is paid online via debit or credit card, after completing the application. Renewal can take anywhere from 1 – 3 months to be processed.
*Contact Compliance if you need help with renewal fees.
**The state does not allow anyone to work unlicensed. You will need to complete your renewal ahead of your expiration date to ensure it is processed before your registration expires.**

Information:
Once you have been inactive with our company for more than 10 days, we are required to terminate your licensing with the state. Before this is done, we will notify you via email. If you will be coming back on for the next summer, we will not terminate your licensing, we will just need to be notified that you will be back and your projected start date.
If you no longer wish to work with Skyline Security, you can surrender your current AESBL card to us and we can have it terminated.
A termination notice must be emailed to the state within 10 days of the employee leaving.

Q: Who is required to obtain a license/registration?
A: Both Salespersons and Technicians are required to obtain the Alarm Employee registration.
Q: How long does a new application take to process?
A: 1 - 3 months depending on training needs.
Q: Am I able to begin working while completing the application process?
A: No, you must wait until you are fully licensed before working in the state.
Q: Once issued, how long is the license good for?
A: The license will be good for two years and will expire on December 31 of the second year.
Q: How long does a renewal application take to process?
A: Depending on volume, it can process between 1 - 3 months.
Q: How do I switch my registration from one company to another?
A: You cannot transfer a current license to another company, you must submit a new application and training for each company you work for.
Q: Can I use my previous training to get a new registration?
A: No, you will have to re-complete the training for each application you submit.
Q: Can I complete this over DocuSign?
A: Yes, however there will be certain requirements that we will need to cover when completing the application this way.
