OUR FIRST FIELD TRIP...

Lee's Pumpkin Patch

October 20, 2015

We will depart from Riverdale at 8:40 and return around 11:00.

This is part of our Farm/Pumpkin Life Cycle Unit.

Please look for the permission slip in your child's Friday Folder.

We will be in need of chaperones, so if you are interested please indicate on the permission slip.

I am marveling at how quickly your kiddos are settling into the rules and routines of kindergarten. They are a lively and fun-loving group but they are also hard workers. We have been on "PERSISTENCE" for our Habits of Mind behavior and I am seeing lots of persistence in our room! We also continue to work hard on our listening skills - keeping our bodies quiet, our mouths off and our eyes on the speaker.

Our list of Heart Words is growing:

I a the we is it

Please help your child search for these words and read them to you when you are doing your nightly reading with them.

Also, they have now brought home several books to put into their Treasure Chests. Have them read these books to anyone they can find - you, siblings, pets, neighbors, stuffed animals, imaginary friends... The more they read the better!

We have mastered the following letters: a e h

Your child should be able to identify and name these letters and also tell you the sound the letter makes.

We are continuing our Apple Unit in science and the kids are fascinated by the sprouting apple seeds we collected after taste testing and dissecting apples.

Thank you for your continued support in helping your child remember to bring Friday Folders back to school on Monday mornings and library books on Wednesdays. Also, just a reminder that we have Show and Tell on Mondays and Fridays. It is completely optional but if your child has something they'd like to share, those are the days!

And just a reminder that Show and Tell days are Monday and Friday.

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
