It is hard to believe that there are only a few weeks of school left. The year really has flown by. I've got a classroom of readers, writers, mathematicians, and scientists all getting ready to move on to first grade. Wow! In addition to all of the academic stuff, we are still working hard on being good kind friends and helpful community members.

We have had so much going on. It was a delight to have so many moms, grandmothers, aunts and friends join us for Muffins for Moms. And we are looking forward to our DONUTS FOR DADS on JUNE 3rd at 12:15.

We had a fantastic time on our Lake Oswego field trip. The kids were great listeners at the Fire Station and they got to see other businesses like the post office, the super market, banks, barbershops and so much more. The bus ride back to school on Trimet was very exciting!

We are lucky to have Lauren to work with our kids in the garden and they are now going out there every Thursday. We alternate so that one week they do their math lesson in the garden and the next week they have science or social studies out there. We’ve had fun learning about a variety of community helpers like bees, cows, fertilizers and farmers and now we are learning about insects.

In Science we are now working on our Forces and Motion Unit. We have been investigating how things move and have been learning how to create a hypothesis and then design an experiment.

We have now learned all of the letters of the alphabet and continue to acquire new heart words at a rapid rate! The heart words that we are adding are continuing to increase in difficulty so any extra practices hunting for those words would be fantastic. What have recently added:

We have been working on the short “O” and short "U" sounds as well. Those tend to be trickier for the kids.
