Dear Parents,

After the busy week we had, your little ones are most likely exhausted. I know I am!

Our trip to Lake Oswego was a huge success! We saw lots of community helpers in action! At the fire station we had the full grand tour including a demonstration of the hose shooting water. We saw the postal workers sorting mail at the Post Office and bank tellers working at the bank. We walked past an Animal Hospital, a grocery store, a Realtor’s office, some restaurants and many retail shops. And our ride back to school on the Trimet bus was very exciting.

We got to visit the Fifth Grade Science class Space Station and we toured all of the pods and watched demonstrations and presentations about outerspace.

We also went on a fun scavenger hunt with our 3rd grade buddies.

In the garden we are working on building “Bug Hotels” trying to engineer structures that can withstand all of the variations we have in our weather. We have examined various habitats and have looked at different houses and building materials used by both man and animals all over the world.

We have added many heart words as your kiddos are reading up a storm.

Where There For Or Were At

Two new heart word books went home in your child's Friday Folder today. Please ask them to read to you!We are also doing a lot of writing. We are learning how to add details to our stories.

In math we have been working on story problems and figure out the equations to go with them. We are working on addition fluency up to 10.

Just a few reminders… Next Thursday is Muffins for Moms at 2:30. The Spring Concert is at 7:00 on Thursday, May 18th and we will have a Donuts for Dads Celebration on Friday, June 9th at 2:30.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Kate
