Dear Parents,

I hope you’re staying dry on this RAINY weekend. There are more fun pictures up on my webpage!

Having Halloween on a Monday with tired kiddos coming off of sugar highs makes for an interesting week. Your darlings were superstars! They hung in there for lots of great learning. Our Halloween was loads of fun! Our room parents put on a fabulous party complete with an adorable skeleton craft project and some yummy goodies. Thanks, Moms!

We have wrapped up our Pumpkin Life Cycle study in science and have started our Salmon Life Cycle unit. We learned about the salmon habitat and all of the stages of the life cycle. We observed and will continue to observe our very own salmon eggs. Two of them have hatched into Alevins, which is very exciting. We will watch them grown and will continue to learn about the different stages. The Friday right before Thanksgiving break we will walk down to the river with our 5th grade buddies to release the hatched and growing salmon so they can continue on their journey to the ocean.

We worked on the letter “W” and added several new heart words to our growing list. You will notice that several Heart Word books came home in Friday Folders yesterday. Please be sure to have your child practice reading their books to you and then put them in their treasure boxes so they have a growing library of books that they can read independently.

In math we have started to learn about 3 Dimensional shapes. Have your child search for “spheres” and “cubes” around the house and in their environment. Next week we will learn about “Cylinders” and “Cones”.

On Thursday we lucked out with a break in the weather for our garden time. We cleared some beds and planted some of the bean seeds that we harvested in September. And on Friday we had a great time reading with our Big Buddies. This week we got to read two books to them before they read to us.

The November Family Project came home in your child’s Friday Folder. I have extended the due date to THURSDAY, November 10.

Have a great weekend!
