It was wonderful to see you all at conferences last week. It's always so much fun to talk about the incredible progress your delightful children are making.

This was another busy week. We had a fantastic time conducting a science experiment with Mr. Nebert's 5th grade science class. The kids worked together to build paper airplanes with a variety of designs and then flew them and measured the distance they traveled. the kids then measured the distance and recorded the data so they could see which design worked the best. The goal of this activity was to promote engineering discovery around the forces of flight. It was so much fun to watch the kids work together. They all seemed to enjoy it.

In math we are continuing to work on addition and subtraction computation and the kids have had fun creating story problems with the sea creatures and then recording their equations on the board. We are also continuing with patterns and money.

I emailed home the most up-to-date heart word list and as you can see it is expanding rapidly. The excitement in the air as decoding skills are growing and emergent readers are blossoming is palpable.

In Science we are continuing with our Transportation Unit. Next week the kids will be creating their own modes of transportation so if you have any small boxes and/or paper towel or toilet paper rolls please send them in to school. We will need all the building materials we can get!
