HALLOWEEN 2014

Post date: Nov 1, 2014 6:03:45 PM

Happy Halloween. It was so much fun to see all the wonderful costumes today and to feel the excitement in the air. The kids had a wonderful day. Our fantastic room parents planned a great party for them including yummy treats, games and craft projects. We also made fun Halloween pictures in art class and sang song about pumpkins all day long.

It has been another busy week! We have now learned the following letters and verses:

A says "a" Ant on an apple, a a a

E says "e" Eels on wheels e e e

H say "h" Horse on a house h h h

K says "k" Kid in a kayak k k k

M says "m" Monkey on a mountain m m m

R says "r" Rooster on a roof r r r

S says "s" Spider in the soup s s s

And we have learned the following Heart Words:

a, and, the, we, will, go, to, I, love

We have been learning about the art of storytelling with words and pictures and have been writing some fantastic stories in Writer's Workshop with pictures, letters and words. We are working hard in math. Playing fun counting games in the car - counting by 1's, 5s and 10's would be tremendously beneficial to your kiddos as would playing numeral recognition games.

We continue to work on building our community and have read many stories about how to problem solve conflicts with our friends and how to be inclusive and respectful of each other.

Our apple seeds are growing like crazy and we have now completed our pumpkin life cycle just in time to begin preparing for our unit on the salmon life cycle.

I hope you all had a great Halloween and are having a wonderful weekend. Please remember that we prefer the children bring a healthy snack to school for refueling. I know it'll be very tempting to send in that Halloween and one or two treats for a lunch desert are okay if you would like, but I ask that you keep the candy to a minimum. We need to keep those brains well fortified with healthy and nutritious food for optimal learning.

Cheers,

Kate
