Thomas Mill

[ community & school site ] There was a settlement established there by 1855.

 The George Brannen family lived in the Bee Tree Pond and Thomas Mill Hammock area of the county.  It was customary for the teacher of the Bee Tree Pond School to board there.

Taylor County - A microcosom of frontier America by Joe Akerman states that by 1855, settlements existed at Lake Joe, Shady Grove, Pisgah, Thomas Mill Island, Oakland, Barker Hammock, Blue Creek, Sunnyside and Carlton Springs.
