First Presbyterian Church

The First Presbyterian Church at the intersection of Main and Quincy Streets was organized February 26, 1905, under the leadership of Rev. J. W. Roseburough, D.D., an evangelist of the Florida synod. There were 15 charter members, most prominent of whom were Duncan Malloy, his brother, James H. Malloy, and Duncan Curry, who were the first deacons.

Within a year this small congregation had erected a building, largely the work of the Malloy brothers who were in the lumber business.

The hurricane of 1935 damaged the exterior of the building and the photo below was the result of repairs made at that time.
