Pine Level Methodist

Pine Level Methodist Church

The Pine Level Methodist Church was originally known as Providence Methodist Church and was located below the Fenholloway River in the Dorman settlement. The church was organized by Rev. J. M. Hendry assisted by his brother Rev. T. B. Hendry.

Charter members were: Asa Holt, John Mathis, Daniel Mathis, John Bowden, Tom Carlton, Callis Carlton, Sue Mathis, Laura Holt, John Grubbs, Hattie Grubbs, Rice Mathis, Dora Mathis, Nancy Horton, Jane Mathis and Nellie Mixon.

Pine Level Church was located about three miles south of Perry in a beautiful pine grove in a good settlement of people.

Pine Level Church

One of the old churches of the circuit. Home church of Rev. A. J. Jones. Has two lots, and one small house of worship. Using a vacated Methodist Episcopal church house at present. Paid on pastor’s salary this year $100. Has only thirty on roll. Received seven during this year. Situated on Fenholloway River.
