[ community, school site & post office (established 19 May 1908 - discontinued 15 July 1927 later moved to Carbur) ]

(Definition - A woman's name which signifies "clear, illustrious." It was conferred by turpentine people who worked here and by tradition refers to the Steinhatchee River near which the community is situated.)

 

Article from the Taylor County Herald, March 30, 1923 - Stephensville Items - Many people from Alton, Clara, Mayo and various places were at Goodbred's Fishery Sunday enjoying fish, oysters and the sea breezes. - Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Jackson will move soon to Clara as Mrs. Jackson takes charge of the Clara postofficer. J. R. Goodbred will have charge of Mr. Jackson's farm.
