Southside Baptist Church

The Foley Baptist Church was organized March 30, 1930 with 57 charter members. Foley Church voted in 1954 to move to a new location and change the name to Southside Baptist Church.

Rev. C. T. Hall was the pastor when the ground breaking service for Southside Baptist Church was held on May 1, 1955. Worship services began in the new church in March of 1958.

Brother Wade Clemons was the pastor in 1960 when the church started construction on its educational building with classrooms, kitchen, pastor’s office and a church clerk’s office.

The church purchased land on Plantation Road in 1965 to build a pastorium. It was completed in 1965 and Brother Barney Andrews was the first pastor to live there.

In the spring of 1979, Brother Jack Anderson led the church to have the sanctuary and educational building bricked to help with the energy cost and it improved the appearance of the building.

Some former pastors were: Rev. C. T. Hall -1954-1960, Rev. Wade Clemons – 1960-1964, Rev. Barney Andrews – 1964- 1972, Rev. J. C. Doss – 1973- 1976, and Rev. Jack Anderson began in 1976.

In 1990 under the leadership of Brother Jack Anderson, the renovation began with the interior of the church completely removed and rebuilding of

the interior started.
