Sand Hill

[ community & school site ] Craven Albert Lynn and family lived in the Sand Hill community. Near their home was the Sand Hill School which also served the community as church center.

 

Josh Ezell was a farmer and cattleman. He lived in the Sand Hill area. His children attended school at Sand Hill, Warrior (Athena) and Carbur.

 

G. J. Jack Sadler was a farmer in his early days and lved in the northern area of the Sand Hills. He was the postmaster at Sadler for a while and operated a store. Later he moved to Pineland where he operated a store and garage.

 

W. R. Carlton was a farmer and he operated farms in three areas of the county during his career: Pine Level, Sand Hills and McMullen. Interspersed with his farming, he did work for Potts Turpentine business.

 

S. L. Walker's family moved to Taylor County and spent his early years on Fish Creek. Later he taught at Sand Hill School, Stephensville School, Carbur School, Cabbage Grove School and Pleasant Grove School.
