Elsies Pk Circular Rte

Location: Elsies Peak between Fish Hoek and Glencairn

Overview: An interesting circular route that needs good balance and a head for heights, but is otherwise relatively easy scrambling.

Parking & Approach: Start can either be made from Berg Rd/Mountain Rd above Fish Hoek, or from Golconda Rd at the top of Glencairn Heights.

Route Description:

Refer to the slide show, which shows to route starting from Glencairn Heights and going via the summit first. It is easier to find the correct traverse levels doing the circuit clockwise, either starting from Fish Hoek side, OR going up to the summit first from Glencairn, then West to descend to the traverse line above Fish Hoek.

At the bottom of this page you can view and download 3 Google Earth images showing the different ways to do the circuit.

NB these are NOT GPS tracks but just drawn paths to give an idea of the routes and distances.

Opening party: Pioneer unknown, but Jenny Barron popularised it with many MCSA groups, and later Tony Heher with the U3A.

Resources: Morning tea or Lunch or both depending on pace of your party and time available.
