Kromriver Farm Rensie's TV Mast hike

This pleasant easy hike of just over 5 km takes one along the Kromriver ridge with lovely views into the valleys on both sides.

Starting up the path to the MCSA Breekkrants property, which is marked by a sign saying 'TV Kop'. At the MCSA sign on the nek, scramble up onto the ridge.  Follow beacons (stone cairns) and at a fence in a dip carefully go through the wires (not barbed) and continue up and along the ridge. 

The vague track descends to the TV Mast access road where a short distance to the right (South) the beaconed path leads up to the Mast.   After enjoying the view, return to the road and follow it down all the way past the Pump Storage dam construction to join the Truitjieskraal road.  Turn left and back to the Farm.

In 2021 Derik Nieuwoudt arranged a new section of path that starts some way below the nek and traverses across to the old road to the mast. Lower down the road the new path branches off to contour across the vlakte and eventually to re-join the road.
