Corridor "B" (+Rib & Face & Pk 761 maze)

Location: Corridor Buttress, to the right of Corridor Ravine and sharing the same approach, from Theresa Ave, Camps Bay.

Overview: A composite route taking the bottom easy scramble sections of Corridor Rib, then using the gully and ridge on the right and finally working up the side of Corridor buttress somewhat to the left of the Face route which has some harder B+ scrambling to get to the top section shared with this described alternative.

Route Description:

Approach from Theresa Ave, Camps Bay and follow the Pipe Track to Corridor Ravine. Watch out for the extension to Oudekraal ravine off the bottom corner of the Corridor ravine path.

Follow this to the base of the easy scramble rocky ridge up the bottom sections of the prominent Corridor Rib and when up against the steep crux sections of the Rib cross the gully on the right and traverse under a short buttress between the Rib and Corridor main buttress to the gully on the far side. A short way up that leads onto the short buttress which is taken until it ends and you cross a slope onto the top of the Rib.

Now ascend the slope on the side of Corridor Buttress proper up until a large diagonal break going back up to the right with a large white sloping rock which should have a beacon on it. Follow the break up to the top cliffs and scramble left through some blocks and bush to access a ledge that ends at a pull up onto an exposed but easy narrow ledge back right. Now move over left to the final short chimney and wormhole. From here one can traverse off to the Back Table path OR find your way up to the summit beacon.

See slideshow for pictorial route description. Click on a picture to see an enlargement. Also clicking on an arrow head stops the slides changing and you can use the arrows to advance the sides yourself. Note that there is one slide showing the Face scramble pitches, but the rest is for the easier B route.

The slideshow includes doing the maze on Peak 761 which is a nice bonus after Corridor and the path to it is directly opposite where the track from the Corridor Buttress summit beacon intersects the Back Table path.
