Intake Ravine

Overview: A pleasant wooded ravine which leads to the vlakte in front of Grootkop.
Route Description: Access from the ring road from Constantia Nek. The lower part of the ravine is thickly wooded but the track is well beaconed. High up the track enters the rocky river bed, and then exits on the left hand side. An initially increasingly overgrown track opens out to bushy slope with easy rock scrambling. When the terrain levels out care is needed to follow the track through the fynbos until it joins the Back Table Path a short way in front of the north side of Grootkop.
At the start point on the ring road
Following the beacons (rock cairns) on a vague path up through the forest
Sometimes in the river bed and sometimes on the side
Usual tea stop just before breaking out left up onto the southern side.
Some very easy scrambling to get past a short cliff
Out on top and now to get through the bush to find the Back Table path
