Reserve, Cleft and Junction Peaks

Location: Back Table, between Smuts Track and the dams. OSM map

Overview: All three of peaks provide some fun scrambling in and out of nooks, crannies and cracks. Split Rock is also nearby.

Route Descriptions:

Reserve Peak: Go up the ridge from Smuts Track about 100m north 0f the Ash valley path. Explore the nooks and crannies and continue over and down towards Helly Hutchinson dam.

Cleft Peak: About 100m north of where Nursery Ravine meets smuts Track, go up the ridge towards Cleft. Bear right around the face of Cleft and find a crack to the top. Descend into the famous and delightful dells with great orgy grass. There are also a number scrambling routes out of the dells to the top of the Cleft.

Junction Peak: Follow the Aqueduct from Smust Track towards Echo Valley. At the nek, take an ascending traverse up Junction peak. Scramble to the top.

Split Rock: To the South of Reserve Peak across Ash Valley is an interesting rock formation called Split Rock. Enter the shallow Split Rock valley from the top of Ash valley, and come down into it to exit onto Smuts Track between Ceclia Ridge and Nursery Ravine. The valley has some interesting big golden sandstone overhangs. The exit is bit bushy, but OK by keeping to left after leaving the cave.
