Kasteels Gully 'C'

Location: Kasteel Gully, shares a start with the Kasteels Buttress route.

Overview: Kasteels Gully is the prominent gully on the left side of Kasteels Buttress.

Route Description:

On the right is a composite slideshow of the Kasteels Gully route. This, together with the GPX track should be sufficient for most climbers. Some climbers do the lower pitches of the Gully route as an approach to the Kasteels Buttress 'B' route, while others prefer to ascend the Valken Ravine watercourse up to the sheer rock band where a long traverse right on a rock ledge leads to the rest of that route.

Kasteels Gully generally lies to the right of the Buttress lower sections, then crosses it at the point of choice to do either the standard balance pitch up a rock barrier, or the "Cups and Saucers" variation around to the left.

Above that the Buttress long traverse right is crossed and the chimneys are ascended up to the notable rock prong on the skyline known as "The Camel Rider".
