Elandsberg-Stanley's Light Trail
Location: Ladismith, Cape, off the road to Hoekoe
Overview: The approx. 14 km trail path has been recently cleared (Sept 2010) and although in good condition, still needs care on the steep rocky sections.
Route Description: A pleasant trail, with an interesting background as it resulted from Stanley de Witt's idea of placing a light visible from Ladismith, which was powered by a waterwheel generating the electricity from a perennial stream high up on Elandsberg (also called Toringberg). |
