The Lioness

A proud nanny goat boasted "I have just birthed two very beautiful kids."

"Pah. I gave birth to four puppies."

"Four is nothing" said the sow. "My last litter was eight fine piglets."

Tired of their boasting, the lioness interrupted. "I only had one...but he was a lion."

Hence: Qualitas ante quantitas.

Notes

The point of this story might seem contrary to my basic philosophy. But then again, children aren't works of art: you can't put aside one that doesn't work and make a new one with the lessons you've learned.
