Lord Willoughby

Lord Willoughby

This is another one from Popular Music of the Olden Time (William Chapell, 1859) and sequenced by myself. The complete lyrics are in Chapell's book; I'm only including the first stanza to give you a feel for the song. (Translation: I was too lazy to transcribe all the verses...)

The fifteenth day of July,

With glist'ring sword and shield

A famous fight in Flanders

Was foughten in the field

The most courageous officers

Were English Captains three;

But the bravest in the battle

Was brave Lord Willoughby.
