Petal Falls

My business is a farmers market called Petal falls. My target audience is people who live in more rural areas all over the west coast. My business specializes in all different types of things. We sell a wide variety of things like fresh fruits and vegetables, gardening supplies, and baked goods. We get our products from many different local farms and bakeries to ensure the quality of our products. This means our prices are a bit on the higher side but that's because the quality of our products is like no other store. We usually spend about a week in one location and then move on to the next. We are only in business during the summer and spring. 

When I first started I had too basic of an idea and was only really thinking of stores like Hannaford and Shaws. I then started opening up more and thought about farmers' markets. When trying to find inspiration for the name of a logo I was thinking of nature and things that are sold at a farmers market. I started playing around with different ideas and landed on flowers. For my first one, I combined a mandala-like design and a flower, and for my second design, I went for more of a traditional flower in a pot.

The first thing I learned is that logos don't have to be this complicated piece of art. All it has to do is make a point and be eye-catching. The use of color and shape is very important when it comes to catching someone's eye. The logo shouldn't be too cluttered it should be simple smooth and well-thought-out. The second thing I learned/reinforced was to get all your ideas down regardless of what it is. It's one of the most important things to do because you can easily get stuck trying to come up with the perfect design at first. The last thing I learned was how to make things flow. Logos can be just a picture but it can also have words. Making the words and image flow together and look like one was a very important part of this assignment.
