Purpose:
To explore a variety of mark-making with the brush tool, along with a variety of techniques to create a digital landscape painting;
To practice using the tablet and stylus with Adobe Photoshop;
To create works of art that use different subjects, themes, symbols, and images;
Demonstrate increasing level of competence in use in the elements of art and principle of design to create a digital landscape (line, color, shape, form, texture; unity, variety, contrast, movement, emphasis, and balance).
The first thing I did was select an image I like the look of. Then sketched it out and I made a few changes to the original to make my piece a bit more original. I then took a picture of the sketch and moved it to photoshop and blocked out all my big shapes and colors. After I blocked out all the big shapes I started adding all the little details and shadows to make things look more alive. The last thing I did was add the horse on the rock.
I think the most important thing I Improved on was blending colors when needed and not blending colors when needed. In a painting, blending colors is important because if you have one object or thing that has two very different colors that are right next to each other it can make the object look weird and not whole. But it's also important to have contrast because if you have two similar colors in the foreground and background they can start to blend and look like they are connected when they shouldn't be.
