Reflection
For this piece, I used almost exclusively markers. I chose markers because they really helped bring out the cartoon feel that I was going for with this piece. The markers' bold color also helped with the cartoon feel while also giving that feeling of a colorful piece of street art.
With this piece, I had to think about differentiating graffiti and street art. Initially, I struggled as I found no clarity other than their legality. With that in mind, I had to choose carefully how I was going to portray the two forms. I chose to have two sides of a building with different pieces. While working I found there needed to be more contrast than just separation between walls, choosing to show contrast with color and subject. On the right wall, a bright color mural atop a plaster wall. For the left wall, I had a brick wall with a pipe and no graffiti sign covered in tags.
Moving forward this I a great baseline piece for me to look back on. This piece will help keep my ideas of what graffiti looks like compared to street art consistent as I move through my
