These limitations help you think about how to apply a concept in a way you would not usually think of. With most of the prompts, we also had a time limit which greatly affected what I would plan on putting on the page. For example one of the prompts we had was to create an area of color. Instead of trying to think of a tangible thing that had color I just started to block out areas of color with basic shapes. Another prompt we had was to add lines, instead of trying to construct a full drawing I created patterns of lines that I thought matched the flow of what piece I was working on.
The decisions of others greatly influenced the final product of my piece. Going into this I had picked a photo I thought others could easily build off as I had no specific end vision for the piece. Once I got my piece back I had to take in everything that others had added and built off of that. An example of this is in the corner of the picture one had started to extend the sea and I chose to extend it more than putting a boat on top.
This project helped me learn to be creative when it comes to taking up the page. When you got your piece back from being worked on by others it often had spaces with nothing. At first, this was challenging because I was having a hard time figuring out what I wanted to do with that space. I ended up filling some of it with more patterns and extended the sea some one had already started.
