Purpose:
To consider your own facades and true identity;
To consider how your own name identifies you and what "things" identify you;
To examine your own identity and create a conceptual self-portrait that identifies the things that make you, “you”
I incorporated a wave because the beach is one of my favorite places to be and one of my favorite activities is surfing. I included a bean stock because I like the outdoors and nature. but when I thought about it more it reminds me of Jack and the Bean Stock which is a very imagination-filled story and I am a very imaginative person. I chose to make it night because I love nighttime and things like star gazing and space which is also why I included things like a moon and telescope. This project taught me a lot about how to create good compositions and how to make things in your painting flow together. these things are very important because Without them your piece will look messy and not unified. Personally, I dislike watercolor so working with watercolor was the biggest challenge I had. I don't like watercolor because I find it very difficult to make everything neat and to keep my lines straight which causes my work to look messy.
