purpose;
To create a “Magic Square” painting inspired by Paul Klee;
To demonstrate an understanding of relative color and color associations;
To demonstrate an understanding of the properties of acrylic paint on canvas and color mixing;
To create a composition that shows movement and rhythm.
I tried creating movement by changing the size of the squares. I when from bigger squares to smaller squares and also tried having the areas of emphasis all around the canvas to create even more movement. I think it works out well and I can see the movement from color to color and square to square. The project helped me learn how to layering and color combinations to create a clean piece and how to use composition to create movement inside the piece. Some challenge I faced was getting started. At first, a had no idea what I wanted to do and how to create movement. Then I started just playing around with different patterns and designs and then I started to form a few ideas I liked. After that, I picked the one I liked the most and moved on to the final painting. Other than the start everything when very smoothly and I had almost no problems. I like the emphasis I created with the brighter blue and red squares and how it contrasts with the duller yellow and green tones.
