Upper Body

Abs

On the front of the body (between the ribs and pelvis) are the abdominal muscles. They provide support for the trunk and allows movement.

It consists of:

  1. Serratus Anterior

  2. Transversus Abdominis

  3. External Abdominal Oblique

  4. Internal Abdominal Oblique

  5. Rectus Abdominis

Back

The back muscles are divided into 2 groups - superficial and deep. superficial muscles are associated with movements of the shoulder and the deep muscles are associated with movements of the spine.

It consists of:

  1. Trapezius (Superficial)

  2. Levator Scapulae (Deep)

  3. Rhomboid major and minor (Deep)

  4. Latissimus Dorsi (Superficial)

  5. Erector Spinae (Deep)

Biceps

The biceps muscle is located at the front of your upper arm. The biceps includes a “short head” and a “long head” that work as a single muscle.

It consists of:

  1. Bicep Brachii (short head)

  2. Bicep Brachii (long head)

Triceps

Triceps is a muscle that runs down the back of the humerus and the name is given because contains three muscle 'heads' or points of origin.

It consists of:

  1. Long Head

  2. Lateral Head

  3. Medial Head

Chest

The chest, also known as pectoralis major, is the bigger muscle on the chest and is a superficial muscle. The pectoralis minor lies beneath the pectoralis major.

It consists of:

  1. Pectoralis Major

  2. Pectoralis Minor

Shoulders

The shoulders, also known as deltoid, is a large muscle responsible for lifting the arm and giving the shoulder its range of motion.

It consists of:

  1. Anterior Deltoid

  2. Medial Deltoid

  3. Posterior Deltoid

Forearm

Forearm muscles help to move the elbow, forearm, wrist, and digits of the hand like gripping onto items.
