Ms Mar vel the receptionist
28-year-old who has been working as a receptionist for 4-years. She works at the reception in the morning and during the afternoon does back office work. She takes calls from patients on the phone and queries at the desk. Some patients know her well and this is rewarding.
Patient demand is high and sometimes patients can be challenging. This mostly happens when there isn't an appointment.
Doctors work differently and this can be difficult to navigate.
New staff take time to get used to reception work.
Types of queries include: booking with clinicians, prescription queries, investigations results, referrals and forms.
The phones are constantly ringing in the mornings.
