The Past Simple

SUJETO + VERBO EN PASADO + COMPLEMENTOS

• I visited Málaga when I was 8 years old.

• I went to Seville when I was 9.

Tenemos dos tipos de verbos: regulares e irregulares.

El pasado simple de los verbos regulares se forma añadiendo "-ed" al verbo segun las siguientes reglas ortograficas, que dependen de la terminación del infinitivo (sin "to"). Los verbos irregulares no siguen ninguna de estas reglas y, por eso, hay que aprenderlos de memoria. En el pasado simple utilizaremos la segunda columna.

SUJETO + DID NOT (didn't) + VERBO (en infinitivo sin "to") + COMPLEMENTOS

• I didn't watch the football match last week.

DID + SUJETO + VERBO (en infinitivo sin "to") + COMPLEMENTOS + "?"

• Did you like candy when you were a child?
