Comparison of adverbs
Adverbs of manner describe how we do an action. They answer questions with "How ... ?".
Most are formed by:
adding -ly to the adjective.
She walks slowly.
lf the adjective ends in consonant +y, the y changes to an i and then adds -ly. happy > happily
It all ended happily.
We can compare two actions using this structure:
more/less + adverb + than.
She walks more slowly than her sister.
I drive less carefully than my father.
We can show that two actions are done in the same way using this structure:
as+ adverb + as.
She walks as slowly as her sister.
