Science
The Science Core Unit (which is a semester based subject), will allow you to develop an understanding of important scientific concepts and processes, the practices to develop scientific knowledge, the contribution of science to our culture and society, and our everyday lives. The skills that you will learn in Science, will allow you to make informed decisions about local, national and world issues.
Science at Year 9 will provide you with a solid foundation of knowledge of the biological, chemical, physical and Earth and space sciences. You will be challenged in this subject by working collaboratively in small teams to design, conduct, problem solve and report on your own scientific investigations. There will also be many opportunities to engage in practical activities where you will learn through a hands-on approach.
This subject will also provide you with a broader basis from which to make more informed choices regarding VCE Science units of study. While every student must complete the Year 9 Science Core unit, there is a choice of electives available so that you can design your own Science program.
