Responding to a Suffering World
Why are there so many Christian organisations working to alleviate suffering in our community and the world?
Where did this call to social justice come from and who is answering the call today?
What is the connection to our values at Marian College and our part in Kildare Ministries more widely?
Would you like to help others and get involved in social justice activities or are you interested in senior leadership roles at Marian College?
This unit will explore the voices of the Prophets of the Old Testament and why they were called to speak out against injustice. You will learn about the Covenant God made with the people of Israel and how and why breaches of the responsibilities under that covenant resulted in consequences for Israel.
You will also investigate and hear from people today such as Sister Brigid Arthur and the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project, who are involved in activities that alleviate the suffering of others and hear why they do what they do.
You will also have the opportunity to serve others by learning about leadership opportunities in Senior School and by getting involved in activities in our community that respond to people in need.
