Science
Studying Science will prepare you for a range of exciting and rewarding careers.
This unit will focus on the Earth’s four interrelated systems – the atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere and lithosphere, where you will plan, conduct and present scientific investigations.
There will be a focus on how ecosystem functioning can influence many local, regional and global environmental conditions. Issues such as global pandemics and the potential link to the reduction of biodiversity on Earth, genetics and genetic engineering will be explored.
You will also investigate issues related to global populations and food shortages, laws and regulations in relation to climate change. Human impacts such as pollution in marine environments, food waste, and fast fashion, and their impact on the natural greenhouse effect will also be studied, with a focus on investigating solutions to protecting our planet Earth and living sustainably.
There will be a visit to Queenscliff where you will be able to participate in a boat cruise on Port Phillip Bay to see the gorgeous local seals and explore their natural marine environment, plus there will be an opportunity to visit the local aquarium. Key science components: Environmental Science, Biology and basic components of Chemistry and Physics.
