Studying science will prepare you for a range of exciting and rewarding careers.
This elective will focus on developing and designing a hypothesis to an experiment related to extraction of DNA. There will also be a focus on constructing practical reports using appropriate scientific language, conventions and representations.
You will analyse given information to solve genetic problems using Punnett Squares, calculating genotypes and phenotypes.
Furthermore, you will draw conclusions consistent with questions under investigation and the information collected during class activities. There will be an opportunity to recognise and classify different types of chemical reactions and use chemical symbols and formulae to write basic chemical equations. This unit will allow you to recall key scientific concepts covered in Forensic Science, Genetics and basic Chemistry and Physics, and apply this knowledge to new problems.
