Studying Science will provide students with an appropriate background in the understanding of science in everyday life. Students will also gain a broader basis from which to make more informed choices regarding VCE units of study. While every student will need to complete the Year 9 Science (Core), there are many electives that they can choose from to design their own Science program.
Alongside the Core Science Unit at Year 9 (one semester unit), students will also be able to select from one or more of the following electives:
Farm to Fork Food Science, Forensic Science, Inside the Mind, Our Planet Earth, Consumer Science, Chemistry Investigation, Physics Investigation and STEM: Imaging the Future.
For students who wish to accelerate in their Science studies at Year 10, they may also choose to study a VCE Science in either Biology, Environmental Science or Psychology.
Note: Enrolment in accelerated VCE subjects is dependent on grades and teacher recommendations in Year 9 Science and Mathematics.
