Emotional Intelligence for pre-teens: Conflict Resolution

Ages: 10-12

Wednesdays PM 7/17, 7/24, 7/31, 8/7, 5PM-6:30PM 1.5 hour sessions

Description

In this workshop we practice conflict resolution via role play and improv.

  • Dealing with “frenemies”
  • Dealing with bullies
  • Conflicts with parents
  • Conflicts with siblings
  • Being blamed and blaming others

We will practice how to transform a conflicting situation into a place where both people understand the other person and feel understood by the other person.


Making choices (teens)

Ages: 13+

Thursday nights 7/18 7/25 8/1, 6PM-8PM, 2 hour sessions

Price for the whole workshop: $100

Description

In this workshop we learn and practice making choices such as:

  • How do I choose my priorities in life?
  • How do I choose what to focus on if I have many interests or don’t know what I am interested in?
  • Once I have a goal, how do I reach it?
  • How do I help my friends make choices?

We’ll practice ways to get in touch with our “choice making” part, getting clarity about what we want and don’t want. Once we start seeing what we want we will learn how to develop a set of milestones to reach our goals.


Math for girls

Ages 10-12

Thursday 7/18, 7/25, 8/1, 1PM-2PM 1 hr sessions

Description

Learn to approach challenging problems and not be intimidated by them. The participants are split into small groups and learn to work with each other to solve fun math problems.


Programming in Python (CANCELLED)

Ages: 11+

8/1, 8/2, 8/5, 8/6 5-7PM, 2 hr sessions

Price for the whole workshop: $150

Description

In this workshop we will use Python programming language to encode and decode secret messages. This class is for Python beginners who have programmed in Scratch before as well as people who have previous exposure to Python or other programming languages. If you have a prior exposure to Python or other programming language you may be working on more challenging problems with some guidance.

Q: Are there classes for younger kids?

A: Not this time. I have limited availability this time compare to the last year and will not be able to do classes for younger kids


Q: Can my child try to attend a session and see if they like it?

A: You would need to pay for the whole workshop in order to send your child to the class. If there are issues we can talk about it in person.


Q: What does my child need for Python Programming?

A: A laptop/Chromebook with python installed or internet connectivity.
