Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD)
I chose to include Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD) in my resource collection. "Behavioral interventions are strategies used to analyze and modify behavior. Student's behaviors are first analyzed with respect to antecedent and consequent events (what happened before and after the undesirable behavior occurred)." (Mastropieri & Scruggs, 2018) The CHADD website provides several links to resources provided to help find the right behavioral interventions for an individual with ADHD. The website also has a link to a study about including exercise with behavioral interventions that would be helpful to me in the future when preparing a behavioral intervention for a student.
There are many factors that go into planning for a behavior intervention that works for the individual student. For example, the CHADD website states that, "Behavioral interventions are one of two evidence-based classes of treatment for ADHD. Behavioral parent training (BPT), classroom behavior management, and interventions that target executive function challenges are examples of behavioral interventions. Key principles of behavior management apply across the different types of behavior treatment, and the age of a child will determine what type of intervention to use. BPT and classroom interventions are typically used for younger children, while older children, including teens, are taught strategies to cope with executive function challenges." (Sibley, 2021)
Additionally, students with ADHD may need accommodations within the general education classroom to help them be successful. The CHADD website includes resources for parents as well as teachers on accomodations. The link "ADHD Back to School Resources" includes toolkits and resource sheets that have an abundance of information that would be extremely useful to parents as well as teachers. Another link was "Classroom Accommodations." This resouces includes classroom management, accommodating for ADHD suggestions, symptoms of ADHD, and much more. I would use this link will be helpful when planning for accommodations within my instuction for students with ADHD.
