I am including these notes from the teaching reading sourcebook on "the big picture" in my portfolio to highlight essential information about the brain's role in reading. These chapters covering vocabulary, comprehension, phonics, phonemic awareness, and fluency provide a comprehensive overview of key elements in the reading process. These notes on these topics showcase the discussions that we have had in class and my understanding of the importance of these components in effective reading instruction which is why I included this artifact in my portfolio.
