Post date: Jan 18, 2018 3:54:17 PM
With the Christmas season already upon us, residents and businesses in Radlett can use an alternative postal service this year as 1st Radlett Scouts launch a Christmas card delivery service for the very first time.
Scout Christmas Post services have been run in many locations up and down the country for a number of years. The Postal Services Act 2000 confirmed an exemption which meant charitible groups such as the Scouts did not need a licence if they wanted to collect and deliver Christmas post between certain dates over the festive period.
From Saturday 25 November, local residents and businesses can post their Christmas cards along with payment of 30p per card in the Scout post boxes located at Budgens of Radlett, Watling Street and Battlers Green Drive Supermarket, Battlers Green Drive. The final posting date will be at 6pm on Friday 15 December and the post will be sorted, franked and delivered by the Scouts over the weekend of 16 and 17 December 2017. The delivery area will cover all streets in Radlett.
All the proceeds will be used to support Scouting, including Beaver Scouts and Cub Scouts in Radlett.
Scout leader Paul said “this is a great opportunity for the children to get involved with their local community as well as providing them with a fantastic introduction into the world of business”.
1st Radlett Scouts would like to thank Budgens and Battlers Green Drive Supermarket for offering to site the post boxes and to Aldenham Parish Council who have offered their support and have indicated they intend to use the service.
